Baking and Pastry
Baking is the technique of prolonged cooking of food by dry heat acting by convection, and not by radiation, normally in an oven, but also in hot ashes, or on hot stones. Pastry is the name given to various kinds of baked goods made from ingredients such as flour, butter, shortening, baking powder or eggs. Small cakes, tarts and other sweet baked goods are called "pastries
Baking has been a favorite technique in many cultures for creating snacks, desserts and accompaniments to meals for many years. These days it became very well-known as the method for creating sweets and all sorts of wondrous mouthwatering pastries. Bakers often baked goods at home and then sold them in the streets-children loved their goods.
A baker is someone who primarily bakes and sells bread. Cakes and similar foods may also be produced, as the traditional boundaries between what is produced by a baker as opposed to a pastry chef have blurred in recent decades. A pastry chef or patisserie is a chef professional skilled in the making of pastries, desserts, breads and other baked goods. They are employed in large hotels, bistros, restaurants, bakeries, and some cafés.
